Equipment You Need to Think About When Renovating Your House

 (modified Mar 1, 2023)

Every now and then we look at our houses and think that a renovation might be a good idea. Even if you have all the right tools, renovating a house is a lot of work, and it requires a lot of your time and even more money. This is the reason why it’s not done often, but when it is – it better be done right. Buying paint and brushes, nails, screws, and sandpaper seems easy enough, but what about the big renovation projects that require some heavy equipment? If you’re not sure what equipment you might need for your next big project, we’re here to help you out.

Excavatorsrenovation equipment

While it might seem like too much, excavators are incredibly useful demolition machines that can do more than digging holes. While they can dig a hole for a foundation in minutes, they can also easily break the ground surface, remove debris from the water, and help with lifting and transportation of heavy materials. Excavators can also help with pipe installation, so if you’re working on your bathroom or kitchen, they are the best. If your renovation plans include taking out an entire room of your house, you are going to need an excavator because it’s going to demolish walls and pillars with ease and make finishing your project much easier.

Pallet jacks

When you order your materials in a bulk, they usually come stacked and packed on a pallet, which makes both transporting and storing the said materials easier for the company. However, when you get them, pallets can be difficult to move around on your own, and unpacking everything and storing it by hand is just too much. This is why you should try to find a good pallet jack and use it to move all your pallets around with ease. Even when the pallets are empty, you can stack them together and move all of them to a distant corner in a blink of an eye, instead of spending all your time and energy moving them around one by one.

Power generators

You might not have any trouble with the electricity in your area while you were living there, but remember that the renovation process is long and complicated and that you’re probably using a lot more electricity for all the machines. Electricity blackouts might not happen, but do you really want to take that chance while working at your house and using expensive equipment? Power generators are always good to have nearby while renovating because they give you a sense of security. Not just that, but they will allow you to finish the job even in case of a blackout. There will be no delays in the project, and your electrical equipment will be safe.

Dump trucks

With dump trucks, there is no such thing as “one type for all tasks,” and you are going to have to pick the right one for your project. They can carry materials from one location to another and fill holes with a lot of soil in a very short time, and all you have to do is make sure you choose the size that’s best for what you’re working on. Transfer dump trucks come with a separate trailer with a portable cargo container, and it’s most commonly used to move the demolition waste from the site. Side dump trucks, on the other hand, are used when you need to unload the materials quickly. Their side opens up and allows the materials to slide out quickly, but the downside is that its capacity is rather small.

Dumpsters

While dump trucks will help you move the materials and the debris from one site to another, when you don’t want to (or can’t) use trucks, dumpsters are a great way to move the debris and different types of waste out of your way. Regardless of the type of renovation project you’re working on, you’re going to have a lot of scraps and trash left, and you should never get rid of it on your own. You never know if some of the materials are hazardous (asbestos is still commonly found in older houses in Australia and the US, as is lead paint), so it might be best to rent a dumpster, put the debris inside, and have a professional deal with it.

Bulldozersbulldozer

Bulldozers are huge and powerful machines that can help you tremendously when you have to push soil and debris around. During construction projects, there is always a lot of soil, sand, and waste lying around, and a bulldozer can move it around easily. Its tracks and ripper allow it to move around even of rough and slippery terrain, so even if it’s raining, you can still get some of the work done. At the rear, bulldozers also have claw-like attachments that are used in grading and to break the ground surface.

While you might decide to renovate your home so that it looks exactly as you pictured it, don’t forget that you will also significantly improve its market value if you do it right. Upgrading your bathroom and basement, adding a garage or another room, and completely remodeling your kitchen will turn your boring old home into a dream one, and bring you thousands of dollars more if and when you decide to sell. It doesn’t matter if you’re renovating to make it cozier or more valuable, approach the task like a professional and you will love the results.
